Generate additional sales revenue using these simple suggestions

Every funeral home wants to generate additional revenue to offset escalating costs and diminishing returns. Offering Meadow Hill’s Thumbies keepsake program to your families helps develop incremental revenue growth and enhance your reputation in the communities you serve.

Below are steps used by funeral professionals with successful keepsake programs. These additions to your program bring attention to your product offering and services. Simply starting the conversation about keepsakes can be the first step in generating better sales for your home.

  • Ask the question - Would you be interested in a keepsake?
  • Print everyone as a service to your families and for identification purposes. Keep this print in your family file or within Print Vault.
  • Decisions come in time - send the Thumbies brochure home with a price list. More decisions are made at the kitchen table than at the arrangement table.
  • Have brochures and stands in community areas - by the coffee urn, in the woman’s bathroom, near the front entrance, or in visiting areas.
  • Always position the framed samples in sight of the family as they are seated in the arrangement room. Behind the Arranger’s chair, directly on the arrangement table, or on a nearby lamp table are all good spots for the display.
  • Include a Thumbie in every package - Call it a ‘Gift with Purchase’. Once a family knows that they are receiving a Thumbies keepsake as part of the service, they tend to purchase additional units for other family members.
  • Be a living billboard - Wear a Thumbie at the office - receive a 20% discount off wholesale pricing when you purchase a piece for yourself or your staff to wear.

Everyone loves a story

When presenting Thumbies to your families, use a personal story about how this keepsake has helped you personally or how it helped one of your families deal with their grief. (‘When I rub the Thumbie of my Mom and I know she is with me.’)

Pre-Need Programs

Make a Thumbie part of the program as a ‘Value Added’ item. These build your association with the family and can be easily amortized within the package.
